For six centuries, Scotland's oldest university has been welcoming students from all over the world. It was founded in 1410, and is the third oldest university in the United Kingdom (after Oxford and Cambridge). In July 2009 we invite you to St. Andrews for a week of dance, music and worship to our creator God and to celebrate the life, love and forgiveness we all share through his son Jesus Christ. We call Christian dancers from all over the world to join our celebration of praise.

St. Andrews is situated on Scotland's sunny east coast, bordered by long sandy beaches. Many of the buildings we are using are of Scottish mediaeval architecture, including St. Salvator's Chapel, where Christians have worshipped for six hundred years, and the University itself. There will be ample opportunity for delegates to explore the sights, sounds and shopping experiences of the town's ancient streets.

Legend says that a Greek monk called St. Rule brought the relics of St. Andrew here around 390 AD. Celtic monks built the church of St. Mary on the Rock, whose remains stand near the harbour. Nearby are the remains of the 12th century cathedral. At one time this was the largest building in Scotland and the centre of the country's religious life. The ruins of the bishops castle are also open to the public. The town was a centre of pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Andrew, who became the patron saint of Scotland.

St. Andrews is also known as the "home of golf". As well as the world famous Royal and Ancient Golf Club the town boasts seven golf courses, a golf museum, practice centre and golf shops.
